I think George Orwell wrote a fabulous book making politics look really bad, without having human characters in the book. Well at least they aren't the corrupt ones. Any who, did you like the book? And I shall read 1984 since I enjoyed Animal farm.

I read both 1984 and Animal Farm in Jr High. I loved both and consider them to be classics. To be quite honest, there aren't any authors out there that can pen a book quite like George Orwell did. I loved 1984 so much I dedicated much of my written senior project to it.

That book is amazing for those who will see deeper. I loved it. It feels like what is happening to the current USA. I am surprised your school is having you read that. You have a really good teacher who is encouraging THAT book. Wow.
"All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others." Scary!
The following site compares the book and today's occurances. This site makes one think really deeply.

I read it in 9th grade. My English teacher coordinated it with my history teacher, so we read it while we were learning about Stalin and stuff. It really helped understand it.
Good book.
Good book.

Your instructors are smart coordinating it like that. I loved that story, even though it is really sad when you think about it.

It was a really great book. I understood the message behind orwell's writing. My English teacher is a nice lady. I guess you can say that, she is a good teacher.

I wish everyone would read this. We REALLY need to see it in our current political climate. Isn't it weird how things parallel?

It's not a bad book. If you are into the genre I would also suggest Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler. He was actually one of the people who inspired Orwell
Ditto for you Hannah.
It might be better if you read these(as a start). A lot of times we don't realize ourselves that we are not deep at all but horribly deluded in our own pride. It's a very hard lesson especially for those who loathe to have their idea challenged but if you are a true Christian and you have the whole humility thing going you should be able to handle it

Yeah! People tend to get greedy when they see power. I was thinking of Napoleon as some of today's so called leaders. Now I won't compare him to Obama for that is rude, but I know people like that.scifidawn wrote:ayan wrote:Hi Dawnscifidawn wrote:That book is amazing for those who will see deeper. I loved it. It was okay, definitely one of the easier books to understand that we read in English. I didn't like it that much though. But I would pick it over Shakespeare any day.
