Freaks and Geeks
Oddly this reminds me that I have yet to finish Firefly. wtf is up with that?
So I started watching Freaks and Geeks. I have no idea why I put this off for so long. I guess maybe I thought it wasn't something I was actually going to like. Not sure why. I got to admit I wasn't exactly drawn into the series right away, I had my doubts and wasn't too sure. But as I watched the more I realized I just love this show. I don't have much to say right now and only going to mention a few things.
1) It was really weird seeing John Francis Daley as a kid. I am used to him as Sweets on Bones and to see him as a scrawny little kid is just really weird. Well it was. I suppose the same is very much true for the fans of Freaks and Geeks who are fans of Bones.
2) The PE Teacher is awesome. Why is it that most PE Teachers/Coaches tend to be jerks? They seem to ALWAYS favor the star athletes and jocks in general that or they are a complete hardass. Maybe its just me or maybe I haven't seen to many. But this just seems to be way to common. But not in Freaks and Geeks. For the most part he seems to treat all the students fairly and actually listens to his students(finished the soft ball episode... yeah I really need to get a life) also loved the whole scene where Sam is confused and a bit disturbed by the porn and confused by a dirty joke. He isn't seen much, but he is definitely on my favorite character list for this series.
3) Lindsay. Again it seems to be an all to common thing about the older sister desperately trying to be popular and well liked. I mean this seems to be everywhere... except Freaks and Geeks. She doesn't want to be popular(or in the 'freaks' in this case) or tries desperately and bitches and moans about not being in a certain group. She seems to be just trying to find herself. I also loved that she not only likes her brother, but is protective of him. Also liked that she was nice to Eli and asked him to go to the dance with her. She is just trying to be herself.
4) Nick. I really really dont like him so far. At first he wasn't too bad and kind of awesome in that awkward way of his. But after Lindsay kissed him he just changed. When the whole exgirlfriend came about I thought perhaps maybe there really was just some misunderstanding. Now maybe the ex did exaggerate the stalking thing. But even his friends said there was something off about him when he gets into a relationship.
5) Because of Nick I am glad I don't do a whole lot of shipping/celebrity obsession type of thing. I have been watching the show via Youtube and I sometimes glimpse the comments. Mostly to see peoples favorite lines are(which there are a ton of!) because I was actually stumped by how some were talking about Lindsay and how ungrateful she was towards Nick and how she doesn't deserve him and that sort of thing. If I had a girlfriend that was similar to Nick I think I would be pretty much like how Lindsay was. But I am thankful I am not much into the whole celebrity obession because I would hate to have an experience of watching a show like Freaks and Geeks be clouded and not being able to actually understand the more subtle things about the characters and story.
I wonder if this is why I enjoy talented unknowns compared to the top actors in Hollywood. The less I see/hear about a particular actor or actresses the more I seem to enjoy them. Holy crap I think I may be one of them people who hate mainstream simply because its mainstream.
I could say alot more about Freaks and Geeks. Such as how awesome Bill is. But I am tired and this is getting pretty long already and... meh. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Re: Freaks and Geeks
Told you
To me Freaks and Geeks is by far the best teen show ever. And the most realistic one I have ever seen
Agreed on the teachers. They were awesome. I also like the interaction between Bill and the P.E teacher. It was really powerful stuff. It was also cool to see the geek teacher and how supportive he was of them
And I adore the fact that they made it a realistic school instead of the stereotypical teen stuff with some insanely define cliques and stuff
Lindsay is awesome. She really does portray a normal teen who is trying to find her way. I also love the fact that she is not some pushover and let's her friends have it when they go too far. And it's really interesting how she forms a bond with the freaks. And of course I love how protective she is of her brother. It's cool to see normal siblings. I love that she can be quite funny as well. Did you reach the part with the dog's dream
Yeah Nick went a little crazy but he gets a lot better. Did you saw the episode centered around him and his dad? And you can't help but feel sorry for him at well I won't say when but it's really tragic.
Agreed on Bill. He has some of the most powerful moments on the show. Like the peanut. And the scene where he was on the coach? Wow. I am still breathless from it. Hard to imagine how they managed to put so much emotion in such a simple thing
Lol yeah I can talk about it forever as well but I'll let you finish the series first so I don't accidentally spoil you

Definitely agree. This is so much better then any other teen show. Much better then Secret Life and Degrassi TNG and all that other stuff. Though now that I think about it sorta reminds me of Degrassi Junior/Highschool. That show did a pretty good job of protraying some realistic teens.

The teachers were pretty great. I am still amazed at how they did the PE Teacher. It just sorta baffles me. Also the interaction between Bill and the PE teacher was great. It showed that he actually wanted to try and get to know Bill and isn't afraid of actually listening. I finished the series(why oh why did they cancel this?) and I loved the scene where Bill was watching Dallas and sorta trying to explain it.

I know what you mean. They did a fantastic job at not only creating this character but also casting her. Was also happy that Lindsay and Kim became friends. At first I thought they were always going to be at each others throats, but was surprised when they actually became good friends.

He did get a bit better towards the end. But I still don't like him all that much. Usually I don't mind the stoner character. He wasn't a bad character, just not one I liked all that much.

The Peanut episode was amazing. I sorta wished Allen did go with them to the scifi convention. But him saying he just can't do it was funny though. The coach scene definitely was just brilliant. It was simple and yet full of emotion. When the PE teacher realized what Bill was trying to do, I couldn't help but smile.
I also loved the scene where Bill and Neil tag along with Sam to that makeout party. When he was in the closet. Then the girl decides what the hell and they stay in there for atleast 5 minutes over the time. Bill is the man.

Finished it just haven't gotten around to do the rest of the review thingamajig. I hate where it ended though. I want to know how the parents react when they learn Lindsay didn't go to that convention thing. I also really want to see Daniel be a Dungeon Master that or play more of it. I mean I want Carlos the Dwarf back!
