The Truth About Jane- A Story of coming out.
While searching for a movie to watch I stumbled onto The Truth About Jane. I was almost going to put it onto my list to watch later but a certain actress popped up. Ellen Muth. It was sorta like a 'Yeah definitely going to watch'
The movie is about a girl named Jane, played by Ellen Muth, who slowly falls in love with another girl, and her struggle as to figure out whether or not she is gay. When her little brother catches Taylor and Jane kissing and then spreads the word around that she was gay. Things take a turn for the worse...
Now Ellen Muth was fantastic in this movie. Well I thought so anyways. I dont think I have ever seen her in anything that I didn't like. The parents were also great actors... Lets just say I wanted to strangle them and then some.
Now from here on out its going to be spoilers. Just warning you.
A great movie. A bit low budget and it was a movie made for TV. But its still great. Definitely worth a watch

- Spoiler:
- Taylor, the girl Jane has fallen for, turns out to be a real ass. I guess I wanted a more happier ending. But I am glad Taylor dumped her. I mean Taylor made a big deal about how Jane wasn't sure and then suddenly this is just a fling to her. Its heartbreaking seeing Jane's world crumbling around her. She has to go to therapy, is grounded, and her parents are complete ingorant assholes. And now she loses her first love.
Her english teacher, Ms. Walcott was cool and well hot. lets face it. Fictional high schools almost always get the best looking teachers.
Now the Mother was interesting. During the movie one of her friends confronts her about how she is treating her daughter saying that she has always been a liberal and open minded person. Hell one of her best friends is gay. But when she finds out that her daughter is a lesbian, she freaks out. Now I understand wanting to protect your child. This world tends to suck when it comes to acceptance of others. Being gay and in highschool probably isnt going to make the high school experience any easier or life. So I get that. I understand that.
But in the end the parents were quite literally the same as the kids at school who were teasing her. They were so blinded that they couldnt see that their daughter was, as Ms. Wallcott(I think thats her name) put it: In agony.
You know when and if I were to get married I think one of the first things we are going to need to talk about is this very hypothetical situation. For me. If I found out my son or daughter was gay I wouldn't care. For some reason that just sounds off. What I mean is I would only want them to be happy. Whether my son prefers guys or my daughter prefers girls. As long as they end up in a good relationship with someone they love... well point is. I just want them to be happy.
The Dad was the first to start coming around which I love. Though I find it odd that it always seems to be the dad. Then again I havent seen/read to many stories about this. But I know in South of Nowhere the Dad was also the first one to be truly supportive.
The mother is slow to come around. Sure when its in private she can accept that her daughter is gay, but can barely say it out loud in public, or well actually she never does. I was hoping that at the end of the movie she would tell some stranger. Preferabbly on the big podium at the Pride rally.

I remember this movie. It really was a great one. I love Ellen Muth. Sadly I could barely find any of her movie. Damn TV movies almost impossible to find them online
Although I was kinda confused about the mother. Her reaction didn't make sense to me. I mean I could understand if she was a religious nutjob . That would make sense. Hell it would make sense if she was raised by some nutjob like the mother on South of Nowhere but she seemed quite normal and then she freaked out like crazy
Yeah me too. Well I would be kinda freaked out if my son if I ever have one turned out to be gay but I would still support him. I mean come on loved ones always come first
But with a girl? Are you kidding me. If I ever have a daughter and she turned out to be a lesbian I would be beyond happy. No chance of getting knocked up by some douche. Much lower chance of contracting STD. Why that's a father's dream. Hell yeah
