You and alcohol Empty You and alcohol

Post by Rex Wed Nov 05, 2014 12:46 pm

Quick confession. I have never been drunk in my life. I drink socially but I have never actually managed to get to the point of being drunk due to a combination of the fact that I just don't find alcohol very appealing and my seemingly high tolerance for alcohol. Tonight I was at a party with an open bar so I decided I might as well try and finally get drunk. I drank two glasses of wine, three whiskeys, two baileys, a vodka,a bacardi some weird jelly alcohol all in an under an hour but it still had no effect on me. Which I find really weird

So I am wondering. Have you ever gotten drunk? And if yes how does it feel like to get drunk. And how much did it take for you to get drunk

I have been to the point where I was blacked-out drunk. That has only ever happened to me once. I had about 4 smirnoff's and 5 shots of plain tequila. I don't remember a darn thing. Apparently my husband had to carry me out of the bar, up the stairs and put me in bed. Then he told me that I threw up in bed. I remember waking up the next morning feeling like absolute crap! It took me about two days to recover from that. Never, ever, ever again will I EVER drink like that. I do NOT like the feeling that I can't control what I do or say.

Ouch. That sounds nasty. So how did alcohol affect you? Did you go the giggly happy route or something more wild?

This pretty much sums up what I'm like when I'm drunk.

I've only been actually drunk once (12 blue jello shots later made with super tasty Kinky vodka) and my friends still make fun of me for it. We were in a hotel room and I ended up laying on the bed like an otter going "nomnomnom" lmao.

Oh, yeah... you'd never guess it, but I am quite the party girl, or I can be... actually kind of growing out of that now.

On my friend Erica's birthday, we went out to a bar and I got so drunk, I was cut off by the bartender. Then on Halloween, I drank too much in too little time and ended up blacking out drunk. Luckily, I was with three friends at the party we were at and they got me back home and cleaned up. That was the very first hangover I ever got and it was NOT fun. Since that night, I had one sip of a pumpkin spice beer and it made me gag. Basically, I don't think I'll be drinking for a while. I think though, with Halloween, it might have been more the brownies. Even though I can't remember anything else from that night, I do remember what I drank and there have definitely been nights when I drank a lot more and didn't get half as drunk. (That night, I had one beer, four shots of whiskey and two bottles of hard cider. To put that in perspective to other times I overdid myself drinking, last New Years, I had like 14 shots and one glass of champagne. I should have gotten sick or hung over, but I didn't.

For me, when I'm drunk, it's usually more of a happy-go-lucky feeling. I flirt with every girl in the room, I get giggly, it's not really that bad.

I don't drink. Although after helping stock the wine and spirits department I do think about it.

But the truth is I just don't find the idea of losing control all that appealing. Then again perhaps I could use a little loss of control. Then again with my luck chances are there is a really good reason why I tend to be shy. Chances are I am just a complete dick otherwise.

In the end i just don't get what everyone sees in it.

Ugh. You are really lucky. I never managed to get drunk but I think I might have reached the tipsy stage a few times but while the slightly happier flirty stuff happens some times I usually get the reverse. My mind starts working overtime, my mind becomes super focused and I start spiraling insanely down some weird philosophical thoughts. It's really weird

I actually like the idea of losing control. What I don't really like is the taste of alcohol. If you mix it with enough other stuff it's somewhat tolerable but ugh.

I drink occasionally and have been drunk a few times but I don't really enjoy it. I'll be 21 in February and plan on going to a casino with some friends but have no intention of being super drunk. It isn't fun to me, I'd rather just have a drink or two while hanging out with family or friends.

The most I've ever had is 3 shots of tequila, and I didn't feel different at all. I like alcohol, but as kind of a prude, I want to be able to get to my 21st birthday without ever being drunk. That's in less than 2 months (just a few days before Maggie's), and I'll probably test my limits then. I don't think I'll get drunk regularly, but I at least want to experience it once just to see what it's like.

Hm, it happened to me once that I was drunk. I do drink from time to time, and I'm always careful about choosing what to drink and how much.
That time, it just happened to me that I skipped lunch at work, and I didn't have time to eat later either, so I got drunk with two drinks. It seems crazy but that's how it was. Fortunately, I felt quite well the day after, so... no worries. Hahaha.

I drink everyday but not for the purpose of getting drunk. Just wine or beer with meals. As far as getting drunk, I only do it when I go to frat/house parties or out dancing but that's about it. I prefer to smoke if I'm alone and in all other social situations. My usual at a club is two gin and tonics and a jello shot. That gets me to the level of tipsyness at which I am most comfortable, I feel cooler and less inhibited but am not telling everyone I love them yet. That's the kind of drunk I am, extremely friendly and loving haha. Everyone becomes my favorite person. And if you have a dick I'm probably trying to seduce you.

I've only drank to the point of throwing up three times and it was extremely unpleasant, would not recommend. All three times I had probably 4 beers and 3 shots in under two hours.

Do you have blue eyes Rex? I think I've read that people with blue eyes have a higher tolerance. Or are you maybe a rather large person? Most people would be under the table after drinking that much. Only thing I can suggest is do a line of shots in quick succession.

That's good. I keep hearing everybody saying how one glass of wine a day makes you super healthy and stuff

I have green eyes with brown in them. I think it's called hazel in English? And I am 1.90 which I think is somewhere around 6'4 in your measurement. That could be it. I think might whole biology is kind of resistant. When they were doing this minor surgery on me they had to give me four times the anesthetic for a person my size because it barely effected me

Yeah that would probably do it

I have been dreaming of being tall...always Razz. That's why I started wearing high heels some years ago, even though I never liked the idea.
Now, at work, I can't wear them anymore (it can be potentially hazardous to run away from the lab wearing high heels xD). I started noticing that being small isn't a bad thing, really Razz. It's actually better for my health to wear flat shoes, and they can look very nicely too Smile.
What I learned in 23 years is that we wish to have something, we don't have e.g. curly hair when one has straight etc. Wink

Tru dat. I always wanted pretty curls.

Kind of back on the topic, I made some jello shots for Mardi Gras and discovered that jello does not always stay jello. If you leave it out, that shit melts. My beautiful jello shots turned into basically cough syrup shots, that's the texture they had. I always figured that once jello set it was permanent. Who knew? haha

*Sciencebabble begins Razz*
Jello is usually made of gelatin. Gelatin has a relatively low melting point (about 95 degrees Fahrenheit, so that's why we can eat it, and have no gastric problems Razz), and by that I mean that if it's heated to 95 degrees, it turns out to be a liquid. Jello is usually stored in a fridge, because it's optimal for it's properties (it needs about 39 degrees Fahrenheit). Then, when you take it, it's just what it should be. Still, if you add some alcohol to it, it is being dissolved (galetin dissolves super cool in polar solvents, and alcohol is a polar solvent) Smile. That's why jello shots should be prepared right after before consuming them.
*Sciencebabble ends*

Aaaaaand things have changed. I turned 21 today. Very Happy

I wasn't planning on drinking (since it's Sunday, and I was driving), but we ended up at a bar. My friend bought me a Long Island and then took my keys. Hahahaha! Then a stranger bought me a shot of Fireball and Rumchata (which is supposed to taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch). And that's all I had. I know 2 drinks isn't a lot, but I hadn't eaten or drank anything all day, so it worked pretty fast. I'm not even entirely sure I was above the legal limit -- it may have all been in my head -- but I think I was at least a little bit tipsy.

I thought I'd be one of those sad crying pour out all the feels kind of drunks, but it turns out I'm the giggly kind. Weeee. XD

When it comes up to me, we're having a party this week, and I need to propose a drink (everybody has to...that's the thing), so I'm thinking of something original. If you think you have an idea what it could be, please share Razz. It must be extraordinary and fruity Razz.
