The Crazies(2010) - My Review
The second I saw the trailer I knew I had to see it. It wasn't until the other night did I get my chance. I walked away both disturbed, frightened, and feeling I watched a good movie.
The Crazies is about a small town in Iowa who begin to go 'crazy' they begin to violently attack family members and just anyone in general. Soon the Government comes in and attempts to quarantine everyone. After The Sheriff(played by Timothy Olyphant... I knew he looked familiar but I couldn't place him until after I looked it up) and his Wife are seperated he breaks free and goes on a mission to save her. He is accompanied by his Deputy. From there they try and escape the Military. All the while having to dodge the 'Crazies'
This movie, in my opinion, was genuinely scary. There were moments where I was on the edge of my seat heart pounding. While gory, I think it has a pretty strong story and great characters. If you like Horror or Zombie like movies, definitely for you. While I wouldn't classify them as Zombies(mostly because they retain their intelligence and can come up with smart ways to kill you) Its still a great see
Extreme Spoilers!!
This movie was great, one of the best horror films I have seen in quite awhile. Well it was at the time I watched it. Watched The Hills Run Red the next night. Both great horror movies.

- Spoiler:
- One part I loved about this movie is the way they made it so any of the last surviving could be infected. The teenage girl coughs, The Wife worries that she might be, the Deputy acts violently but not like the others, and then there was the Sheriff. I thought for sure when his hand was stabbed and he used it to kill that lady he would get infected. I almost half expected him at the very end get a nose bleed. I was happy to see I was wrong.
But one of the more frightening moments was the very end before credits. Its where that Satelite picks up on the two and then zooms out and brings up the population of Ceder Rapids and of course initiating the Quarantine. We all knew that they were not infected. I doubt any of the infected made it out of that bombing(which I will get to) But as the credits roll, you just know that what happened in that small town will begin again in Ceder Rapids. Then if 2 out of a thousand or so people made it out... think of how many of the hundred of thousands might make it out and spread. Them satelites will pick up on them and slowly... as the refugees make it out they will doom that city/town they try and escape too. Gore and blood doesn't make a movie scary to me, its the concepts and the ideas and the realizations like this.
The bombing. That has got to be my favorite scene. That count down and them wondering what is going on. I thought it was a brilliantly done scene. She checks out the back window to see and when there is blackness you are wondering... wait what? Suddenly the explosion happens and you realize the military isn't taking any chances. That whole bombing was really beautiful in an odd sort of way

I saw it back when it first came out and also loved it! There were so many scenes when I couldn't breathe because I was so nervous. And also so many scenes I jumped out of my seat.
I'm not sure how you did the spoiler thing so I won't go into too many details, but I agree it was the best horror film I've seen in a while as well.

type [ spoiler] [/ spoiler] around the place you want to hide. Just without the space
- Spoiler:
- I know exactly what you mean. When that woman was in that barn with that machine(not sure its name) and it was on. I was so nervous and was thinking 'Move! Get out of the way! Don't you know whats going to happen?! Then when she was in the closet with her son and he said he had a knife and then his eye was in the keyhole. Scared me like crazy.

Thanks Unit!

- Oh my goodness! I had forgotten about the scene where he locks them in the closet. That was awful. And the scene near the end when they found the truck and I believe there were in a diner and the wife hides in a meat locker from a Crazy. Basically the whole scene where they find the truck had me on the edge of my seat!

Re: The Crazies(2010) - My Review
Just got around to watching this on Netflix. I had to watch Day of the Dead (which I did end up enjoying) with my brother to get him to watch this with me.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty good. Nothing too spectacular, but I liked it. I just thought it was too generic. There are so many horror movies where some mutant virus runs rampant, and this wasn't that special.
