Summer Day- poem
A Summer Day
A flash of auburn here and there
This little girl runs by with bright red hair
Flowing quickly in the breeze
She laughs and giggles with utter ease
Pulling out a little flute,
She plays a little lullaby
And glances at an incoming friend
Dirt blonde hair far past her chin
This little girl searches for her friend
She kicks her legs and laughs all day
Its hardly sadness, always play
She plucks a flower from its patch
And searches quickly for its match
Throwing it down with a frustrated huff
The girl then shrugs and struts her stuff
Seeing a brown ponytail in the corner of her eye
She laughs, relieved, and does not cry
The brown haired girl twirls around
So gracefully without a sound
She fixes her glasses on her nose
Then lifts her arms into a ballerina pose
With a giggle and a smile
She sees a little boy nearby
And folds her arms across her chest
Letting herself fall onto a patch of posies
And closing her eyes into a peaceful rest
The curly haired boy makes his way down the hill
Chasing a mewing kitten which scampers at his feet
Who paws at a ball so bright and round
The boy frowns and sits on the grass
With the conclusion that this is a difficult task
The cat crawls and purrs into his lap
And lays down for her noonday nap
He hears a giggle with his ears
Glances back to find the source of what he hears
He sees a blonde haired little girl
Grinning as she performs a girly twirl
Her blonde hair tied into little braids
The girl giggles and pretends
The birds above are playing charades
She smiles with a missing tooth and opens her arms
Hoping to guide them with her charms
She starts to hum a little tune
And her mama calls her to her room
She frowns and turns her head just so
To see a little boy jump high and low
His feet fall unto the ground
As he struggles to pounce without a sound
He watches as a squirrel's eyes dart
Around the towering oak tree's heart
The dark haired boy frowns as the critter takes off
Up into the unknown darkness of the tree
But his heart will not give up
So he follows him there
That is, until he realizes with a pout
The animal will never share
He slips down and slaps his hands
Against his overalls with pride
Glancing back as a little girl
Makes her way down a silver slide
Her light brown hair swishes to and fro
As she slides down high to low
Brown pools of eyes following, watching close
As a white rabbit makes its way to its home
She laughs and skips along with glee
Hoping to bring it home for tea
But when it darts into its hole
Her smile fails to leave her face
With the happiness that the animal has found its place.
The children frolic in the breeze
Joining hands, humming melodies
Birds chirp happily and fly so high
In the bright and cerulean sky.

Re: Summer Day- poem
Now that I know the second stanza is about me, I like it even more than the first few times I read it. Hehehe.
