Since many of you do not like the sources of information I provide, then go read "Unplanned' by Abby Johnson. This is a "from the horses mouth" account of her introduction to, working in and leaving Planned Parenthood. She was a director there.

Oh for god's sake. We get it already. You are one step away from bombing an abortion clinic and you absolutely adore attention. Fine that's your craziness but can you at least to keep it to one thread. There is really need to post it every time your overlords hand you a peace of propaganda

Michelle, in case you missed it. Hear Abby Johnson EX Planned Parenthood director. It is a wonderful story - how she changed sides.

Soap, did you evern go LOOK at what I put here, or did you just comment. Maybe you would learn something instead of commenting without looking. It seems none of you will give this a chance, that things are not as they should be. Go look, and I really advise you to read "UnPlanned" by an EX-PP director. After that, then comment. Until then, it is like passing a huge health care bill without even reading it first.

Re: Pro Life Thread
Soap. LOL. You read it and disagree. Umm, it is a link to something you watch, not read. This is like passing the health care bill, but reading it after it passes. Perhaps you could make a better evaluation, by actually going and watching it before disagreeing.
Here is the current link, so obviously you had not signed up to actually hear what I am suggesting. Give it a chance, then ignore if you like, but how do you know unless you see.
http://instantteleseminar.com/?eventID=22044234
PS, the history of PP is based on racism. If you find racism obnoxious, you may want to reconsider our views of this horrid institution. But, so not comment to me unless you know what you are commenting on.

He wasn't commenting on you. He was commenting on me. Namely agreeing that you should stop spamming the forum and just make ONE abortion thread where you can rant all you want. Pay attention Dawn. Don't comment to Soap unless you know what you are commenting on
And considering you don't even have the decency to address the arguments of other users on this forum even the ones who are trying to be polite and educate you you are the last person who should be criticizing others about about nor reading or thinking.

Yeah, I'm sick of repeating myself so I'm just copy-pasting.
xChorusOfAngelsx wrote:
And about how PP was supposedly created? Umm..So? Look at all of the positive things they're doing NOW for women (I thought Catholics were all about forgiveness). I know several who go there for birth control, a couple who have gotten treated for STDs there. No complaints from actual clients of my local Planned Parenthood who I've spoken to. And it can't be that bad when a Christian organization's employee risks her job by bringing a client there for services. I was there. Just saying.
And as for Margaret Sanger, she sounds like a pretty awesome woman from the Wikipedia article I just read. She fought for women's rights everywhere. Why do you think she's racist? Because she gave a lecture on birth control to the Ku Klux Klan? Whooptie doo. I'm pretty sure they're human and need sex education too, more so than others so they don't make more little racists. From what I'm seeing, she was reaching out to women of all races who were suffering. Take a gander at Faye Wattleton. Funny how an African American woman would become president of an oh-so-racist organization. Since it is Wiki, I'll look elsewhere to verify and look for further information. [Edit] There are a shitload of articles trashing her, and I'm not in the mood to look at the validity. They seem very exaggerated by very miserable, cynical people. The most helpful I found was from Time:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,988152-1,00.html
Thought this was pretty interesting as well[ignore the cigarette advertising, haha P]:
http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/multimedia/video/2008/wallace/sanger_margaret.html
Heading over to find some peer reviewed articles.
[Edit #2] I didn't find anything leading me to believe that Ms Sanger was a racist. I'd post some interesting articles, but you need a username and password to get in (I used one of my college's databases). If you're as interested as I am, head to your local library. They subscribe to a bunch of them. I used Academic OneFile and limited my search to full text and peer reviewed articles only and searched for "Margaret Sanger". I also searched for "Margaret Sanger" and "racist"(and "racism") and nothing came up.
After everything that I've read about her, I wish she was still alive. I would love the opportunity to pick her brain.
If you want to look at it that way and shit on an institution for something that supposedly happened in the past, then why the hell are you Catholic? Isn't this essentially that same as covering up the fact that select Catholic priests rape little boys- but the whole religion shouldn't be looked down upon for a few bad apples, correct? Like I said, stop shitting on something good simply because you disagree with one LEGAL service that they offer.
And I would still love to have lunch with Mrs Sanger.

Re: Pro Life Thread
Chorus,
Why should you be surprised at this discussion? You are not religious. This is a religious issue in a religious thread. We who are people of faith, discuss it in this area. You come repeatedly and get angry. but this is many of our opinion. Pro-life people are in the majority in this country so those of us who have courage to discuss something that we find absolutly evil on here, talk. Do you think we do not know how much angst a few of you feel against this opinion which differs from you? But. we believe and therefore talk. Since you do not share the opinion, fine, but why the anger? I do not eat liver, but do not get angry at one who eats it. I secretly thinkg "Ewww Gross."
Try doing what I do when I see some distasteful opinions on here – ignore and consider the source. Since many of you have no respect for people's faith, then consider the source and just brush it off as more "ignorance" but do not be at all surprised that abortion, those who perform them, and those who do other things that WE find awful are a subject of discussion among us.
If one goes into a shoe store, one should not be surprised to find shoes.

Re: Pro Life Thread
Oh Dawn, you make me giggle. Angry? No. Amused? Yes. I find it very amusing that you think you anger me, or have any effect on me at all whatsoever. I find it even more amusing that you refuse to do real research and give an actual response when somebody takes the time to challenge your opinions.
Saying that an organization was started based on racism has nothing to do with religion. Perhaps a topic in anthropology, but religion? No. You complain that nobody opposing you ever looks at your links, looks into your posts about the same exact thing, but I did, and you give absolutely no response other than a pompous "you're not religious, go away" post. Religion really has nothing to do with it, it's called using your head and thinking for yourself. A social worker(who IS religious, I might add) associated with a Christian organization that I observed last year risked her job bringing a client to PP for an STD treatment. She told me that it's a client's personal choice and nobody should keep somebody from getting medical treatment at a price they can afford. I've looked into your claims quite a bit in the last few weeks, I've looked for an unbiased site, a newspaper article, SOMETHING confirming that Planned Parenthood is an evil place and I've come up with absolutely nothing. Nothing on the local level, and nothing on the national level. Why are you trying to deny people their rights? You know that Planned Parenthood isn't the only place that offers abortions, right? Why is it that you're fighting so hard to drag this particular organization through the mud? All I've been asking for for weeks is a real friggin source that isn't laced with Jesus confirming the illegal behavior, the racism, etc.

Re: Pro Life Thread
Pro-Zombie.
Anyways, I'd like to point out a quote you've used here.
Since when is abortion completely related to abortion other than you bible-thumpers trying to shove Christianity and pro-life down the rest of the civilized world's throats like we're easily molded children.
This Scifidawn has put zero cognitive energy into researching planned parent-hood and the commendable job they do for our community, do some research that is not filled with your pedantic religion's propaganda and get back to us, have some valid facts for me that come from a valid source and maybe I'll listen.

I love shoes, but must there be so many different shoe stores in this one little forum? Can we just have one pro-life, anti-PP thread? The fact is that political (that is what I believe this is, not religious) propaganda isn't exactly what these boards are about. Now, I'd like to see some real, thought out, valid discussion on religion here, but I cannot forsee that happening when every thread on the homepage is about another misguided abortion protest, with links to the same biased web-sites in each one.
So Dawn, can you please keep this all to one thread? That is all we are asking for, well, that is all I am asking for. We keep all the baby stuff in one thread per mother, mostly, out of consideration for the majority on here who don't want to see this turn into a parenting forum, so why can't we do the same here? Most of us are over this tired debate.

Sure, Piper, will do. I will continue in one thread, if you like. That is no problem at all, and I understand what you are saying about too many of them on this subject.
Have you read Unplanned. I asked people in here to read it but they complain about sources. This is a wonderful book by a woman who used to be a director at Planned Parenthood and she uncovered some unsavory things. No one like the other sources, but this is from the horses mouth so to speak.

Thank you, but it is not so much dedication, but a strong desire to promote the safety of the most innocent of us. If people who have been born, and have the gift of life, do not support this, who will? The innocent cannot. I keep hoping somewhere along the line, one of you will see something in one of these links and realize that these are human beings. So yes, I will do and say all I can.

Steve Jobs was a sinner Proof
Also the case in which he conned Steve Wozniak into doing all the work on creating the first BreakOut game and took the grand majority for himself, he was a talent-less slob at that point, while he has created some amazing technological marvels, he will not be missed in my books.
Steve Jobs was saved from abortion, and now he is DEAD. Coincidence?
